The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell is a gripping psychological thriller that delves into the dark secrets hidden within a seemingly ordinary family home. The story centres around Libby Jones, who, after inheriting a large fortune, begins to uncover the disturbing history of the family that once lived above her apartment. With Jewell’s trademark blend of suspense and intricate characterisation, the novel explores themes of identity, trust, and the impact of past traumas on present lives. Readers are drawn into a tangled web of mystery and deceit, making it a compelling read for those who enjoy twisty, emotionally charged narratives.
